Why Flat Roofs Are Common in Broward County:
Flat roofs are a popular choice for many South Florida homes and commercial properties. Often overlooked because they aren’t visible from the street, flat roofs require careful planning since most have zero pitch, making water runoff challenging.

Choosing the Right Flat Roof System:
Since flat roofs come in multiple types, we evaluate each roof to determine which system works best for your property and long-term investment. With proper materials and expert installation, your flat roof can remain low-maintenance and highly durable.

Installation and Maintenance:
We combine modern installation techniques with years of experience to ensure your flat roof is watertight, energy-efficient, and compliant with Florida codes. Our team also provides routine maintenance plans, inspection, and repair services to maximize your roof’s life.

Thermoplastic Roofing

These modern roofing systems are made from high-quality vinyl materials such as PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) or TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) membranes. They’re applied through a combination of hot air welding, solvent adhesives, or both. These energy-efficient systems are designed to withstand South Florida’s heat and UV exposure—providing watertight, long-lasting performance. Plus, they can be easily repaired by cleaning the surface and bonding a patch in place.

Asphalt Gravel Roof

Once the most popular choice, asphalt and gravel roofs—often called built-up roofing—are less common in modern construction. While durable, newer roofing technologies have proven to be more efficient and longer-lasting for South Florida’s demanding weather conditions.

Asphalt Built Up Roof

This remains the most common type of flat roof today. It’s constructed using multiple layers of reinforcing plies and asphalt, creating several waterproofing layers for added protection.
Typically, it includes rigid insulation board foam (either as a base layer or tapered system) or Perlite materials. Several fiberglass felt layers are then embedded in hot asphalt and topped with an additional coat containing gravel or a granulated cap sheet membrane.

Modified Membrane Roofing

These are the new-age materials of flat and ply roofing options. They are meant to replace the hot asphalt gravel embedded surface treatments of the flat roofs. These membranes weather well and resist the damaging effects of “ponding” water. Because of a multitude of use applications and many acceptable methods of installation, they make good components for most roofing needs.

Cold Applied Liquid Membranes

This is an increasingly popular choice for new roofs and roof refurbishment in the Fort Lauderdale area. No open flames or other heat sources are needed as the fiberglass reinforced systems provide seamless waterproofing around roof penetrations and details. These systems are based on flexible thermoset resin such as polyester and polyurethane. This is a more economic option (especially for residential), generally used for very small flat roof surfaces.
